I have a dream
These exact words became famous thanks to a much more significant, distinguished, and worthy of recognition person than I am. His dream was much more profound and impactful than mine. However, to me, my dream is just as important as his. It drives me to strive for perfection. It’s a catalyst for becoming better every single day, for seeking new knowledge, and for staying relevant no matter what. Chasing this dream is enchanting, intoxicating, and addictive. Once I’ve tasted it, there was no turning back.
So let me start over as an addict.
Hi,
I’m Martin, and I have a dream. A dream of becoming a best-selling author.
When I was young, like most little boys, I hated reading books. As good role models, my parents were not quite fond of this and forced me to read children’s books. And, boy, were they boring as hell. However, whenever I read them, I imagined a different scenario. I always found myself wondering for hours how these boring stories may become infinitely better.
In high school, I started writing my own stories. I loved reading Stephan King, James Hadley Chase, Terry Pratchett, and others. However, the most impactful author I’ve ever read was Douglas Adams. His “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” became my Bible, my gospel, and had a significant influence over my personality, humor, and work.
Naturally, with my love of writing, I continued with a higher education in Journalism. During this time, I started contributing to the oldest Bulgarian newspaper that still exists – the satirical weekly “Starshel”(Hornet). I wrote funnies and satirical comments, which were quite popular among my coevals.
After my bachelor’s degree, I decided to expand my knowledge of human behavior. That’s why I enrolled to study psychology in a master’s program. I started my first job as a journalist and worked in the field for over 6 years. Even though I loved this job, to achieve my dream, I needed to obtain knowledge elsewhere.
After taking several Digital Marketing, Copywriting, and Content writing courses, I joined a dynamic startup rapidly developing in the affiliate marketing field. For three long years, I worked with them, devouring all the knowledge I can. I became a digital marketing expert.
However, my passion laid elsewhere. I still wanted to write, to create, to entertain. And with the 9 to 5 job, I was never going to have the time to concentrate on my dream. So I quit.
The Martin Writes era began.
To achieve my dream, I needed an income source that will allow me to own my time. After 10 years of working for others, I had amazing writing skills and enough experience and knowledge in marketing to offer brilliant content and copy that was written to target particular groups, achieve specific goals, and benefit the company. So as Heath Ledger’s Joker said, “If you are good at something, never do it for free.” Thus Martin Writes was born.
In the meantime, the urge to create never faded. That’s why I founded a place where I can share my stories, opinions, and interests.
Ten Minutes Reads was born.
There I write stories, articles, and comments and enjoy myself while writing.
I’m almost there
With my 6 years in journalism and 3 years as a digital marketing expert, I am not just good at what I do – I’m profoundly proficient and always strive to satisfy my customers. By doing this, I’m not just winning new customers and occasionally friends but also possible fans of my work. I’m halfway there, and you can help me achieve my dream faster.
Let’s help each other.
I’ll write a brilliant, well-researched, witty, and/or funny content for your site, and you will fund my dream with a humble donation. It’s a win-win no matter how you look at it.
So…
